Albany, California, a city in Alameda, was founded in 1908 and officially renamed the following year. With a population of just over 16,000, Albany is not overly large but not sizeable small either. A good sense of residential and business opportunities are found in Albany, with large houses and many businesses. Solano Avenue, a pedestrian street lined with shops and restaurants, is one of the more renowned retail areas on the city. A very traditional neighborhood, Albany is home to a good selection of schools for students of all grades as well as public libraries and many other educational resources. Community events, childcare/teen and senior centers, volunteer opening, and plenty of recreational opportunities keep residents busy and well-cared for.
