Event Details
Bring the kiddies and join us at the park for two days of very special performances by Alameda’s only Polynesian cultural arts center, Halau Makana. Be moved like the water and go with the flow as you’re invited to experience the traditional music and dance of Hawaiian, Tahitian, and Maori cultures.
On Saturday, May 6 ONLY, Fairyland is hosting a Book Celebration with Minnie Phan, a Bay Area-raised Vietnamese American illustrator, cartoonist, and writer. Minnie will read excerpts from her book The Yellow Áo Dài and delight visitors with an illustration demo. Following the storytelling and demonstration, visitors will be welcomed to a book signing and arts and crafts project inspired by the story.
Halau Makana performance: 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
Book Celebration with Minnie Phan: 11:30 a.m. on Saturday only
Paper Doll Making Arts and Crafts Project: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
